Abstract – “Echoes Behind the White Coat”

This artwork portrays the hidden emotional struggles of healthcare professionals, symbolised through the image of a heart sheltering a doctor weighed down by grief and silence. On the left, blue veins extend into dark, tangled forms, embodying stigma, pressure, and the harsh gaze of judgment. On the right, red vessels flow into vibrant colours, smiley faces, and paper cranes, representing resilience, hope, and the possibility of healing. The contrast between the two sides reflects the dual reality of medical practice: the unseen burden of stress and burnout, and the enduring pursuit of compassion, joy, and wellbeing. By situating the doctor within the heart, the piece underscores that mental health is inseparable from the core of human care. It calls for recognition, empathy, and open dialogue to transform silence into strength.
