The Journal of Asian Medical Students’ Association (JAMSA) is officially opening the recruitment for our 2026–2029 Advisory Board. We are calling upon all AMSA International chapters to nominate esteemed medical professionals to guide the next generation of physician-scientists.

As an international, peer-reviewed, open-access biomedical journal, JAMSA is dedicated to cultivating student-led research without prohibitive publication fees. To carry this mission forward, we seek experienced mentors to bridge the gap between seasoned professionals and aspiring medical researchers.

Roles & Responsibilities
Appointed Advisory Board members will serve a three-year tenure, collaborating closely with the JAMSA Editorial and Managerial Board to provide:

  • Strategic Editorial Guidance: Aligning the journal’s scope and policies with global scientific publishing standards.

  • Quality & Ethical Oversight: Ensuring clinical validity and resolving complex publication ethics issues.

  • Expert Review Consultation: Serving as a final consultant for highly specialised manuscripts. (Note: To maintain institutional memory, the outgoing Chief Editor of JAMSA will also join the board under a 'predecessor' category).

Eligibility Criteria
AMSA chapters are encouraged to nominate candidates who meet the following standards:

  • Professional Qualification: Holds a Medical Degree (MD, MBBS, or equivalent). Specialists and active clinical researchers are highly encouraged.

  • Publication Track Record: Possesses a robust portfolio as a first or corresponding author in reputable, peer-reviewed medical journals.

  • Editorial Experience: Prior or current experience on the Editorial Board of an indexed medical journal (e.g., Scopus, PubMed/MEDLINE, Web of Science) is highly preferred.

  • Commitment: Proficient in English and able to commit to a full three-year tenure (2026–2029).

Value Proposition
Professionals appointed to the board will gain a unique opportunity to shape the global research competencies of future physicians. Additional benefits include official masthead recognition across all JAMSA platforms and published issues, as well as an official Certificate of Appreciation from AMSA International.
